    hey,

got home from work yesterday evening, went to play a game of red dead redemption and noticed there was no power light on even though it was plugged in. it was fine a night or two ago when i was watching the sopranos on it....what the hell happened??

is it possible that it just died while in sleep state?

i have noticed over the past while, that when i switch it on its fine but as soon as i put in a dvd\bluray\game, the fan starts at the highest setting straight away.

red dead redemption is still inside...any suggestions on how to get it out and if i should bother bringing it back to get sony to fix it? is it just as cheap to buy a new one?

BTW - its the original 40 gb model, not the slimline.

Does the slimline suffer from the same fan noises that the original one did??

Same disk was stuck in my PS3 when it YLODed.
You tube has plenty of "how to" videos on getting out a disk.
    This one worked for me:

My son has a slim, so far all is good.

I've had 2 x 60GBs and an 80GB and can't hear anything from them unless the room is really warm, and I'm using it a long time. Is it in an eclosed space? Do you hoover out the vents to remove the dust?
