Need Full sized headphones with excellent Isolation

Can post a new thread if necessary but will ask in here first.

I'm looking for a pair of circumaural headphones that will mask the sound of people talking around me in work, preferably regardless of whether or not I have music playing.

I would be willing to spend up to ~200 euro, but have been looking at some cheaper ones that have had good reviews as well, like Sennheiser HD 280 Pro & Sony MDR-NC60.

    Anybody got any suggestions?

    /Split to separate thread.

I'd recommend the Sennheiser HD 25-1-II for noise isolation alone. They're crazy expensive in europe though, however they're quite reasonably priced in the states - if that's of any help to you?

HD 25-1 IIs are more supra-aural in that they press on the ears rather than surround them. They do have great isolation though.

Another option would be the Beyerdynamic DT770s. Somewhat more reasonably priced ;)

Be careful of the impedance as there are several models.

Can't go wrong with HD280 Pro's. Kind of bassy, but it's always going to be like that with closed headphones.

What about the Audiotechnik M50? Seemed to get a lot of recommendations on that head-fi forum?

    Is this super-expensive? £147 + p&p?

Indeed they're meant to be very good for the money in the USA but are very hard to obtain to anywhere near an equivalent over in Ireland. I don't think isolation is a particular strong point beyond them being closed-back headphones.

I assume the thanks from Mactard means these are too expensive at that price? What would be a reasonable price for them?

Same question, how much is an ok price for them?

For the Beyerdynamic DT770s how much am I looking at spending? And what impedance should I be looking for?

    Thanks for all the suggestions.

You can get ATH-M50s for $90 in the USA. You'd be lucky to get them for €150 in Ireland..

I'm not so sure about the DT 770s any more, there is a rather confusing array of models and it seems like they need an amp to get the best from them.

Amazon's price for the HD 25-1 IIs isn't all that bad but it's even cheaper here http://www.dv247.com/headphones/sennheiser-hd-25-1-ii-professional-monitoring-headphones--7271 :D

    Thanks for this link.

I'll probably go for these since they seem to be the nuts in terms of isolation.

    Good decision/bad decision? :D

They're a good all-round choice. Fairly flat sound, decent price, and quite small compared to full-size headphones so you wouldn't feel self-conscious about using them out.

They're also fully disassemble-able so you can replace parts fairly easily if something breaks, although from by all accounts they're sturdy anyway.

I'm a bit confused by the other model on dv247 though. Never heard of a Basic Edition, and can't really tell a difference besides a photo from a different angle...

EDIT it seems that the basic edition omits some accessories like a pair of velour earpads (which are meant to be very good). I'd stick with the standard Pro model tbh.
