After a long time away, Belle and Sebastian returned to the stage earlier this week with a pair of shows in Finland. The twee heroes started Monday's show in Helsinki with a new song called "I Didn't See It Coming". It's a sprightly, polished pop song with some spacey keyboard work toward the end. An enterprising fan caught footage of the track, and you can watch it below, via Stereogum.

Sounds like a great song as performed. Really looking forward to the new album.

That song sounds pretty solid :D can't wait for the new album, if it's anything as good as The Life Pursuit then i'll be very happy. Hopefully they'll play a few dates over here as well.

Well they're curating one of the December ATPs in Minehead in December so you never know they might pop over for a show in Dublin too.

That's surprisingly good quality too from a phone I'd imagine. Really nice song too!

Ex BAS member Isobel Campbell also has a new album out in a few weeks titled Hawks, with her duo partner Mark Lanegan of course. Ballad Of The Broken Seas was a really good album, hopefully Hawks will be eqaully as good.

Anyone listen to the new album yet? Hard to make my mind up about it, it starts out strongly but fades in the middle imo. I know they have a history of multiple songwriters but I don't think such an approach always works, tbh.

I've listened to it a couple of times. The first time i listened to it i thought it was great, no disappointments, but when i listened to it the second time it just didn't sound as good. I don't know whether it was the mood i was in or whether the album is just B&S-by-numbers. There's some great songs on it though, especially the opening track 'I Didn't See It Coming' and 'I Want The World To Stop'.

Hugely disappointing stuff for me especially coming after - albeit 5 years later - The Life Pursuit. There's only about 3 tracks on this that I'd happily put on a Best Of B & S compilation - 'The Ghost Of Rock School', 'I Didn't See It Coming' and 'Sunday's Pretty Icons'. The album reminds me too much of 'Fold Your Hands Child' - not a good thing. Shame.

Enjoying this album a lot. I didn't like Life Pursuit at all really but this album is growing on me the more I listen to it.

Much more mellow than some of their other albums but I'm pretty happy with it I have to say. Was expecting not to like it at all.

Can anyone share the setlist from this gig?

Great setlist. Surprisingly though there's nothing from Tigermilk, still probably my favourite B & S album. Loads from Sinister though which is no bad thing. New album still leaves me cold though. Anyone there care to share a review?
