Travel Agent wants full amount paid a week earlier

    Hi guys,

    Mself and the lady are hading away to Egypt on a trip on 30 September for 7 nights. I booked my holiday through a local travel agent and when I made the deposit (€200) I was informed that full payment must be made 8 weeks before departure, that meant 30 July which is the usual requirement. I said fine, no problem. I made a further payment last week of €400 leaving the final amount to be paid at the end of July. However I got a letter in the door today from the travel agent to say that the balance is to be paid by 23 July, 9 weeks before departure. Problem is I get paid monthly at the end of the month and I wont have the required cash payment until then. I'm a bit peed off tbh. I plan on calling into the travel agent tomorrow to clarify this. What do you think about this?

    Ignore the letter. Or else put it on a credit card.

    I try to avoid the credit card wherever possible. If i stick it in the cc, I will go over the limit by around €150 (cc limit of €2k) and I want to avoid any penalties. Thats why I want to call in to see the travel agent in the morning. I mean, why would they ask for the final payment a week early?

    I'm sure this could be rectified without much agro, explain your situation and that you understood it to be eight weeks i dont think they can cancel your holiday etc over a final payment being one week late or early
