Wow to say i am pi**ed is a massive understatement. I moved here from the UK 15 years ago, Drove a taxi in Dublin and have worked for the last 10 years in various big companies, never have i been spoken to with such venom and hate as happened ten mins ago outside my front door.

Some "person" decided to call me all the English wan***s, c**ts, bas***ds, and more besides. I should "f**k off back to the UK, as you took 6 counties and your not getting anymore"

what the hell is going on........

on the plus side it was a fantastic advert for my son on how not to treat others.........

Ive noticed that its getting harder for anyone with an english accent.

Im Irish, but my folks moved over to the UK when I was 3. Obviously I developed an English accent but I moved back home when I was 16.

Even now that im 32 I still have a English accent and yet I have started to be told to feck off back to England etc, I cant find work and have been spoken down too at interviews. One person even asked me how could I be Irish with a English accent!

And what really gets me is that most Irish people have family living in the UK or have buggered off over there looking for work themselves!

Anyway, there are plenty of small minded people out there OP unfortunately. Should've thrown a bucket of hot water over him.

Edit: Being serious for a moment. Unfortunately some people still view the English as foreign invaders that took our land. The plantations occured only last week apparently.

I made the mistake of checking that out out of morbid curiosity. I was still absolutely appalled at some of the posts. Really shocking.

It is always that one knob that you remember, there is a great perception that some nationalities are racist, fact is every country has its band of merry rednecks, a sad fact. i remember being told that the irish are not racist because they know what it is like to be oppressed, yes i did laugh:pac:

There are idiots in every country.
I'm Irish living in the UK. Today at work two new guys were discussing the recent situation in Northern Ireland.
    I quote
"Best thing to do would be shoot all those Irish bas***d's"
"Aye, should send the paras back over there"
This was right in front of me in the crew room and they both knew I was Irish...
A few others murmured agreement. :(

It happens everywhere, even within our own communities to be fair, a lot of people might not admit to it but it happens everyday of the week people judged on where they live, their accents, how old they are etc etc. Not to add fuel to the fire but many Irish are still treated this way in the UK and other countries its always gonna be there so its not really worth getting too upset about it

I haven't read any post after yours OP but Jesus where do you think your going with your sweeping accusation that this country is alive with racism. First of all your understanding of racism is wrong , you had better learn and teach your son the correct understanding of the term before spouting it around .

You have met an ignorant idiot , shock horror they are everywhere including England in fact I would guess there are probably a higher number there if you think about it.

As for the lesson for your son , " take **** from someone on your own doorstep son and then run to the internet and cry racism".

    Grow a pair

You should have corrected them stating they where British not Irish. That should annoy just about everyone no matter which side their on.

Irish have been getting that treatment all the time in England. I had one guy tell me he could tell I was Irish by the slur in my voice.

none of the above as i can not stand irish radio. crap presenters, not one funny person on any station, all amature in the presenting style and crap mix of music. how many times can you hear the same boring top 15 songs at the moment with a mix of crap from 2000's, 1990's 1980's.

BBC Radio1 one every time wins hands down, Moyles in the morning, Mills in the evening, greg james & fearne cotton during the day. Music is great as you hear many more songs than any irish radio station can play due to the large number of adverts.

also can pick it up in the car on 99.7 :-)

    Hmmm.....

You should have punched him in his ****ing face or at least put him in his place, you have to educate a scumbag like that, basically imo you showed your kid to just take it.
I live and work in england and ive lost count of the times ive been called a stupid paddy, had people make famine joke (yes i know it was a long time ago but it still aint acceptable) and been told to **** off home to ireland and that is just from people from work. (im an aeroengineer so its not like im working in a mine or a site or anything - not that that would make it more acceptable) It is still nothing like the actual racism i hear everyday, I'm in lancashire and the disgusting comments "jokes" and slurs against asians and africans makes me feel sick. I've had to tell people to stop telling me those sort of jokes.

I was told "you irish have always been riding our coattails" i wish i had have said that only because you had us tied down but i actually just said "**** off". Oh and I have alos been called a ****ing terrorist, my favourite response to this is "I'm not but I can introduce you to my family if you would like" usually shuts people up.

Sorry that was a bit longwinded.

OP, that is not racism, Irish and English are not a different race

Anyway, you are a taxi driver, if you don't start the rants in the cab then a lot of fares will start them for you.

In short, being English is no shame, nobody would criticize someone for that
But you are a taxi driver, you are self employed and nobody bar your useless union to back you up

Whats with the taxi driver bullsiht
