So i done a Mondello Track day today, and loved it. I think i've caught some sort of a bug and want more.

So whats the general cost of getting set up in formula VEE these days, or are there other options like strykers, are they cheaper/more expensive. What are is the average cost of a days racing. I know the big expense is in the first year, but after the car & gear, what does a days racing cost you.

Thats all for now but im sure more questions will come:D:D

Thanks for the info, Just out of interest what kind of time do the likes of youself get around the track in one of the race school cars.

I may just head along on sunday, it only 30 min's away.

Best lap was 54.4, only got 3 traffic free laps, was a right pain in the arse, when i look back at the on board camera, im picking out faults in my fastest lap, like carrying to much speed into the hairpin, and completly missing a turn in point.

I think my instructor was Dan

Sorry to drift slightly off topic here, although like the OP I am trying to get into motorsport (either vee or karting). Anyways me question is; if I race in Formula Vee what do drivers do about pit crews? Lets say Im out racing on dry tyres and it starts raining, who is in the garage to change my tyres?

Thanks for all the info, Ive now got into my head to sell the Supra, and buy a formula VEE. This could be a fun few days, and an expensive few. Im thinking of one in need of repair, as i have a fair bit of mechanical knowledge. and free acess to a workshop and three mechanics.

You could do a test day before you go purchasing one. Plenty of people have cars out for hire, you never know you may not like it. When/if you do go out for your first session take it easy!

Remember unlike the race school if you stuff it into a tyre wall you will have to pay for the repairs! A race spec vee wont have a limiter and wont be as forgiving as the school cars and you will be out with double the number of cars out on the track. When you start in Vee`s you will be buddied up with somebody that has been around for a while, listen to what the have to tell you.

How much would it cost to hire a Vee and do a test day?

Some great advice here, and just for some fun, check out Blackfalcon on youtube to get an idea what Vee races are like . .

Here are some that give a good idea how different it can be from the race school -

And when it can go wrong . . .

Couple of Boardsies in them too :)

Nice Supra by the way . .

    Thanks lads,

Is the chequered flag course worth it ?, also are you still limited to overtaking on the straight, there were people taking the S bends in third FFS, but maybe on the chequered flag course there wont be slow drivers. Also do any of you Mondello heads know when the next course is on.
