Just uploaded my first proper house track. I've two more that still need to be finished and mastered, so they'll be going up soon. It's a remix of Teki Latex - Dinosaurs with Guns, but it's definitely a remix, not an edit.

Any input is welcome, especially about production values.

i like how you introduce the clap.it doesnt seem to work until the hat comes in.pretty cool.i think you could do with an actual snare drum in there aswell as that clap
beat is nice, like how it bounces along

not in love with the synth line to be honest or the farty bass, doesnt seem like theres any real weight in the bass and the lead synth is a bit hollow and a little too wide i think.

probably need to think about how you introduce the elements better, little fills or buildups would help everything not to just suddenly appear.

i dont think it delivered after the breakdown, there was no real impact.

im only listening on earphones so my listening enviroment isnt perfect.

can hear some reverb on the hat thats bugging me a bit but not destroying the track.

definitely not a bad track.i though the original was ****e to be honest.

like your elements better but the original understanably sounds more polished

I like it, tech house isn't really my thing so I'm no expert but it's got a nice rhythm and some nice drops.

Cheers man, I don't think the synth lines are perfect either, was more learning about mastering and trying to make it sound vaguely polished. So you think throw in a snare, and EQ the lead synth? There is a sub-bass there, so maybe not hearing makes the bass seem weak...I'll look at the reverb on the hat, might just be too much. I agree with the fills and build-ups, I'm just not sure how to do them without sounding cheesy.

Cheers man, I'm not usually hugely techy in what I listen to, so I'm still trying to found my sound production wise.

Not really qualified to comment as it's not something I'd normally listen to, but my tuppence; I'd never guess it was a first attempt, it's a hell of a lot better than some of the sh1te that shows up in beatport "charts".

Interested to know what s/w you used though, as I've always been curious about these remix competitions and what's the next step after you've d/l'ed the source material.

    What?

There was a remix competition for this track a while ago, so I downloaded the stems for it then. I used about 3 or 4 of the stems, a small bit of the acapella, the "uh" kind of sound, and I think I used the synth sound. The rest of it was just samples from other places and synths from Ableton.

Made a few changed as per Sean's ideas, and upped it in mp3 to make it easier to download. Have a listen and see if it's any better.
