What is the estimated price for the 32GB - pay as you go??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,224 ✭✭✭Walkman

No info on anything yet, just called the 3 store in Henry St and they said they were getting an announcement later today but the girl was very tight lipped on anything.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,408 ✭✭✭naasrd

I just registered and they sent me an email telling me that they'll send me an email when it's available online. Maybe they're just trying to see what sort of numbers are out there...?

lol apparently when you give your email you "preorder" it. Happy days.

I went into Vodafone today and asked what the story was and she told me "end of july" no specific date but she put my name on a list and said I'd be contacted as soon as its available.

You're just registering your interest, nowhere does it say this constitutes pre-ordering.

On the brighter note: Hopefully this will force the hand of O2 and Vodafone to release some details! First mover advantage, well done 3.

Yeah id expect some announcement tomorrow morning in response to this

Why would they need new price plans? Their network is data focused so I'd hope it would be the same plans as before

I somehow doubt they'll be jumping on the phone to call everyone on a list to let them know the iPhone 4 is in stock!

The email you receive is entitled "Preorder enquiry". But of course it's not a pre-order.

Email is titled Preorder, but yeah, its not a real preorder I was just joking.

The list was fairly small to be honest there was about 6-8 people ahead of me too so I wouldn't be surprised if they end up sending them, group text ftw

If the uk is anything to go on three is so cheap for the phone and tariff compared to the rest... I have a good feeling about the iphone on three they havent got as much weight to throw aroend as vodafone and o2 so hope fully they will be cheap!!

Are people still hoping for a july date?

I agree, im only with 3 a few weeks now and the iPhone is constantly dropping calls and the data network is useless.

You should move to Togher, ballyknockan has only voice and text coverage for 3, the data network is useless because they don't have one there.

Don't know about this, I'm running a 3gs on 3 and it's perfect. Was on o2 and had piss poor signal at work and home. 3 works a charm all over Dublin and when i travelled to donegal and Galway recently.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,625 ✭✭✭Thor

Ok i don't think people got my joke, In some areas 3 have great coverage but in most they don't.

Also the whole iphone 4 having the reception issue is just going to push that decent coverage in some places over the top and well the network will be as piss poor as everywhere else.

But they've Ireland's biggest 3G network by a long shot and should hit 99% population coverage this year with a full 3G network. It's far from piss poor.

2 years ago you may have been correct but right know your well off the mark.

Believe me when i say, I'm in dundrum area and they are far from a great network, i have had calls drop on me alot. Also the fact they lock all there phones to either 3g or both 3g and gsm is just wrong in my book.

The time it takes to switch over from 2g to 3g is too long(probably not the networks fault) but should be reason enough to let people in poor coverage area stick with 2g just so they can get calls without any problems and don't keep switching back and fort

Besides its not just me, Alot of people are having problems with three. Some say they are great and some say they aren't.

Im just saying is it wise for them to carrier a phone that already has reception issues. Also considering they rarely get new phones in anyway.

Just out of interest, what network protocol would you have them use? LTE? In Ireland at least, there is only 3g and GSM.

3g is their own network and 2g is with Vodafone. Data works on 3g and not 2g. Never had calls drop myself and I use my phone alot in my folks house where it goes between the two regularly.

Unless they plan to switch off vodafone roaming and just have a 3G network in some areas i'm inclined to agree with you. I think there are some places they need to consider letting the network stand on it's own 2 feet.
I don't think the iphone is the one to try it out with.

A lot of people having issues with 3, that's a bit of a sweeping statement. Although I know a lot of people having problems with Meteor and Vodafone oh and not forgetting to mention O2. As for then getting in phones, did they not recently launch the SonyEricsson Vivaz, X10, first with the X10 Mini, X10 pro soon. E72, E52, X6 all Nokia's recently launched. Blackberry and Samsung Wave and Acton all recently launched.

I'm surprised to hear this. Would it be a problem with your phone? I spend quite a bit of time in Dundrum and have to say that since I switched to 3 I've gotten great coverage there! The only time my phone has switched to 2g was when I was sitting down the back of Nandos restaurant, everywhere else I checked it was on 3g with a good enough signal for me to go online.

im with them a few years as well and can tell you that i get a lot of dropped calls and loss of 3g signal in dublin.

The estate i live in is notorious for coverage but me being on three is the only person in my house that has this problem(everyone one else, Meteor and vodafone) works perfectly.

Obviously i can't talk for everyone and im not saying vodafone, meteor or o2 are better im just saying they at least allow people to stick with 2g on there phone(now im using an n900 so i can do that myself but previously i couldn't)

Also it takes three.ie twice as long to clear a phone before releasing it on there network and the htc desire being there newest phone was advertised months ago and has yet to be see.

Just to clarify what i meant by 'New phones' The time it takes them to get them released since launch its no longer new.

Don't get me wrong alot of irish networks are the same and its getting to be a joke. considering just over the river in england the networks over there have the phones at launch day.

Infact i had to buy the n900 in the us as it could not be bought over here, Even though vodafone said they were going to have it soon(took them 4 months)

Three.ie have the iphone 3gs at the moment but don't advertise it anywhere.

Think about the amount of people upgrading that would love to get the iphone 3gs but can't because they had no idea that it was there.

Also i can't see them ever getting the n900, N900 was and is a short time phone in nokia's eye's and meego is going to replace that!! Why i don't know because i love my n900.

Your best just buying and unlocked one.
