    Guys,

Looking for anyone who has a Fender Blues Deville Amp:

    http://www.fender.com/uk/products/search.php?partno=2232100000

I'm having trouble getting the sound I want from it - I'm playing a 1960 Custom Shop Stratocaster Relic along with an Epiphone Sheraton (with Gibson 57 Classic pups) so I've got one amazing guitar and one really good one albeit the pups are the main thing making the sound better.

I'm having real difficulty getting a decent sound out of this amp - cleans are really twangy and the amp is outrageously loud, anything over 2 on volume and the neighbours are going crazy....

Anyone got one of these amps? If so, whats your preferred setup etc..

Well i have a Blues Deluxe, which is similar. They are insanely loud, i'm the same, anything above 2 and my ears bleed. I think the best bet would be to buy an attenuator, which will give you awesome tones at much lower volumes. (Don't have one myself, but did consider one for a while.) Ted Weber has some, they're not the cheapest of yokes, but they do the job.

As for the brightness, i know what you mean when i got my amp it was incredibly bright, it has since mellowed out, altohugh it is still very bright. But that's the way i like it so i'm happy.
It'd probably take a valve/speaker change to really change it.

Electro Harmonix Signal Pad is a nice attenuator that won't break the bank

Cheaper again just get any EQ pedal and you can boost your lower frequencies and take down your higher ones that way. If its like the Deluxe Hot Rod (pretty sure it is) it has a brightness switch? Just press that. The presence knob can take your head off too.
I'm surprised your getting a twangy sound off the Les Paul... I've a similar set up. I switch between Strat and Les Paul. With the Les Paul you get a very low end sound but you still get that high end spit you get off Fender valve amps... Although that's what I like about the amp... I thought that was the appeal? Maybe you just chose the wrong amp?

I had a deville before. I liked the sounds out of it quite a lot but it was just way too loud. I had the master around 2 at most. With a drummer I might take it
    to 3 1/2! Get a smaller amp.;)

Yeah I have one and what I did was change the 3 pre-amp tubes from 12Ax7 to 12Au7, they are softer and drive less so you can get to the 1+1/2 to 2 level without breaking walls.
For tone my set up with a strat and tube screamer is treble and bass at 8 and mid at 4 reverb at 3 and presence at 8.

One thing I do with my Deluxe is to always plug into input 2.

It's a lower sensitivity input that means you can run the volume slightly higher for the same output volume level (getting the output valves cooking more), or to make the amp slightly more able to do bedroom volumes.

As for the brightness, all I can suggest is that you check that you don't have the normal/bright switch pushed in, and that you turn the Presence down to 0.
