Looks like Casey is fighting this lad and if he wins he will have a shot at the European title .

Not bad going for someone with only nine fights behind him. :) He should be too much for the Italian judging by his record. Hopefully it goes the distance, the more rounds Casey gets under his belt the better.

Munroe is to vacate in order to fight Nishioka. Is Willie wins will he get a straight shot at the vacant EBU title?

No, Brian Peters is promoting the vacant title fight between Kiko Martinez and Arsen Matirosyan, and Peters is apparently going to try and match the winner with either Paulie Hyland or Willie Casey.

This isn't an eliminator in any official capacity(the EBU don't even do eliminators anymore), they're just promoting it as that. Casey currently isn't in the EBU rankings, but he is in the EU rankings. Salvini is ranked #9 by the EBU, and beating him will almost certainly put him into the European rankings and eligible for a European title shot. So you could claim it's kind of like an eliminator as the loser of this fight won't(most likely) be in the European rankings and thus eliminated from possibly contesting the European title.........but that is clutching at straws.

Anyway I think Casey is much more likely to get himself a voluntary shot sometime in the near future, rather than a mandatory so just getting into the rankings is important for him, and seeing as Salvini has been in against some very tough operators and normally lasted the distance, this should be a good fight for Willie.

Get Willie and Hyland to fight first and then the winner (Willie of course:D) takes on the EBU champion.

I like willie but Hyland would be too technical for him in my opinion..

That would be a tough fight to call. Hyland has all the boxing skills and Willie has the ability to turn the fight into a war.

    Wrong thread pal! :p:D

I think Casey should work his way up the rankings. People treat prizefighter like they should be fighting for a world title afterwards. Salvini looks like the perfect opponent for him at this stage.

Yip you're probably correct on both counts...
Having met the guy and being from Limerick myself, I suppose it's easy to hype him up. :o

I would hate to see Willie rushed into a big fight like a European Title fight he is still young and has a lot to learn i watched him in cork a couple of weeks ago and he made hard work of what should have been an easy fight he has a lot of potential all the ingredients .ie big punch, good work rate and a big heart but he lacks the experience so maybe another year and he can not only win a title but defend it successfuly as well as for Paulie Hyland i believe he would take Willie apart i am not biest towards any of the fighters i really believe Paulie is very talented but at the end of the day i just hope Willies Managers make the right decision cause he i think he can achieve a lot and i hope he does .
