Who offers best and worst warranties?

Kia Ireland are offering 7 year, whilst BMW Ireland are only offering 2 year.

Who else is doing exceptional/shítty warranties?

Are Toyota Ireland doing the 5-year warranties yet?

Opel is also doing 2 years only, at least on the Corsa my buddy is buying. In this day and age am I the only one to find it unacceptable...?

Yeah, seems Opel are also only doing a shítty 2 year, tho I thought they had moved up to 3.

Nissan's are 3. That Kia warranty is brilliant - 7 years or 150,000 kms. They should all be offering that.

Its definitely getting Kia business, on my street there are 3 new kias, there were none before....

Merc Ireland are 2 years but if you buy a new Merc in the UK and import it here it's 3 years.

The air-con in my opel died (due to a cracked pipe) five months into year three. After getting a dealer to put in claim for me, Opel met me more than half way on costs to fix it which included re-gassing the system.
I'd say the operate on a case-by-case basis but thought it was pretty decent myself

That was decent of them alright, but since they didn't meet the full cost the warranty was still only 2 years.
I was surprised by this whole 2 year thing btw, I thought everyone's doing 3 years as standard, competition an' all... Is it only Ireland? If so, why?

2 is minimum by law for a new car and basically any brand only offering that would be best avoided as they have no faith in their product.

In that case your limited to only the above mentioned car brands! Only other I can think if is Honda, who give 3 years.

AFAIK 2 years is fairly common on most UK cars too but they get a 3rd year from the dealer rather than manufacturer

I see Toyota are advertising a 5 yr Warranty on there new cars in the UK now,surely that will have to follow on at some stage to there new cars being sold here as well I would imagine.

Care to point out where our law states that? We don't have a minimum period because we don't have a maximum period either. You can happily take them to court and get work done if you think the judge will think that 35k's worth of car should be of merchantable quality after three years. Or six years.

You should have gone after the garage with consumer law, warranties are in addition to your consumer rights.

Irish consumer law is very strong and you have up to 7 years to claim for faults. A cars aircon shouldn't fail after 29 months.

For most manufacturer's it's a 2 year warranty around the whole of Europe.

In the UK the Manufacturer / Importer adds the 3rd year for the majority of the makes. The rest of Europe makes do with the same warranty that we get, it's just the more demanding UK customer gets what they want.

Renault is 3 years with the option of paying (not much though) to extend to 5 years.
