Right Click on Computer and Click Manage
    Click on Disk Management.

Does it show up in the list.
    Post a screenshot.

    Also

Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.* If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Look for Optical Drives, is it listed.
Are there any expanded branches with exclamation marks or red icons again post a screenshot.

i see now ots vista, looks like you have the settings for showing pics turned off in the profile above, go to control panel; system& security, and where you can see your base score look for advanced settings, click option adjust for best appearance, hope that helps.

Take a look at this page and see if you are confident in following the steps

    http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistahardware/thread/60b0b046-c449-4c9c-8c99-763ce9a778eb

Don't forget to remove any DVD writing programs beforehand.

    Also back up the registry.

It's very straightforward as long as you read all the steps properly.
