it was about that time they stopped putting real silver in the shillings and florins so they had real worth
yeah loved the way we used to put animals on the coins , unpretentious and even the culchies could recognise the coins

They used to be worth a hell of a lot, when the pound coin came in first and you had the old cigarette machines with a drawer they'd work as a pound!
Got in a lot of trouble for that one...
