I am buying a new house and I would like to put in a boiler stove. I don't like the country look stoves, I prefer the more modern styles. I'm also looking for it to be multifuel and inset. The type of inset that almost looks like a plasma tv. An example of the look I want
    http://www.hearthandhome.ie/jide_stoves/Maxi_77.htm (this is wood burning)

Been googling for a week and I can't find any that tick all the boxes. Do these stoves exist? If so where can I find one?

Also, the house has a normal open fireplace. But, would it be a lot of hassle to chissel out some of the fireplace to put in this inset, if I find one? I have a plasterer on hand but Im unsure if its actually possible.

    Just had it done.

Stovax Riva 66 cassette multi fuel stove into what used to be an old grotty open fireplace.I also had a twin walled flexi flue liner and anti-down draught chimney pot hanger installed too,as this protects the existing chimney flue and helps prevent any potential fires and it also give the best performance to the multi fuel stove.

    Good man Paddy,

You're on the ball... Its looks EXACTLY what I was looking for. Probably go for black too.

Do ya mind if I ask how much did it cost? And how much to get a plumber to instal etc?

    Cheers!

A builder had to basicly demolish the old red brck fireplace and then chisel and kango out the old fire back, then rebuild the fireplace to suit the cassette stove.

Theres a good few hundread euro in that alone, lets say that much.

But if you are handy and a good diyer, you could probably do that yourself. But a chimeny sint something to go and mess around with,if you dont know what exactly you are at and doing.;)

The Stovax 66 multi fuel stove and 9 meter long flue kit, well you are looking at the gutts of about 1500 euro, probably more actually.

Buckley Fireplaces supplied it and also installed it all for me.

If you google Stovax and look on their website, then you see many types of inset/cassette stoves that you can choose from.

    Thanks,

Thats great, I have plenty of builders on hand so that won't be much hassle. My budget for the actual stove is €2000 so it's well under budget.

A lot of websites don't put the prices on these stoves but I found one in the UK for £1230 so that's about right.

And this stove, it definately has a boiler? Heats radiators?

How do you find it Paddy? Is it good?

Mine doesnt have a back boiler,as it wasnt really deemed necessary by myself or my missus (aka the boss ;)).

Our house is so god damn well insulated, that all we are short of doing is having all the windows open and wearing bermuda shorts in the house, its thats hot and toasty inside. Its actually too hot to be honest with you,and the heat just rebounds off the walls and stays in thr house for hours and hours.

When the neighbours see the windows open on a cold or windy day,Im sure they must think we are starnge so.

If you go to the Stovax homepage and then you will see every type of stove that they make.:)

P.S-Theres other stove makers out there, not just Stovax,so have a good look around aswell.

:rolleyes:I went to my local heating shop and they've told me there is no back boiler on Rivas. I have since read your reply.

Unfortunately, the back boile ris one of the reasons I want a stove. I would light a lot of fires and I would like them to actually heat the rads too.

Does anyone know of a brand that has contemporary, multifuel back boiler inset stove?

    Ill keep looking!!!

I am looking for something very similar. Found this site which has some nice modern stoves. don't know if they do ROI but it might give you some names to ask about.

We're currently looking at the Boru Carraig Mor as mentioned above. Any got any experience of them long-term?

Further to previous post... went to fireplace shop outside letterkenny yesterday where they showed us a Boru inset with boiler. Nice looking job. mentions it on this page of their website but no data on output yet. http://www.borustoves.ie/Hearth%20and%20Home%20Exhibition%202010.html

hi i had a similar issue to you, could not find a back boiler modern stove so i bought a charnwood slx45, its not the most modern looking but is very efficient, my sister bought a boru from nenagh stoves in tipperary and she is well pleased with it, she shopped around and got the best deal there, also the glass got broke and they replaced immediately, i also saw the riva stovax down there working gorgous machine someday maybe.
