there is not going to be a recall, if this happened with a nokia phone no own would care, it solely because its apple.

i purchased one on launch day and have noticed no severe signal drops!

    blown way out of proportion!!!!

    Great news:)

Save a bit of money and buy PAYG from the UK, unlock via JB until the networks start issuing the unlock codes for about £10!

    Did that with the 3GS:)

As far as I know you can't get PAYG from the networks for the iP4 yet?

Only from the Apple store (if you can get one) and they are only a few pounds cheaper than the unlocked ones.

    hi,

I've agreed a deal for a 4g that is locked to o2 uk but seller says it will be unlocked by 02 in a couple of weeks. I don't mind waiting if this is true but would rather not jailbreak if possible. Seems funny that 02 uk would sell an upgrade and unlock it so soon?

    cheers

I'm not au fait with how to do that, would be worried I may damage the phone and I believe an unlocked phone would be eaier to resell than a jailbroken one.

    no, adverts.ie :D

Not sure if this is a goer as from reading the 02 uk forums the owner of the phone would need to have his sim in the phone when the unlock occurs.

    cheers

See unlocking and jailbreaking are two totally different terms. Unlocking lets you use whatever mobile network you wish. Jailbreaking allows you to install software on the phone which is not from app store. Granted some of the jailbreaks unlock the phone as an option.
Unlocked is generally more valueable on the iphone, especially a factory unlock where it has been unlocked by the mobile provider or apple. A jailbreak unlock would normally be lost if you updated the firmware on your phone using itunes to the lastest version. If a new jailbreak existed that allowed unlock, you would then have to do this again. If it didnt exist, you would be stuck with a phone locked to its original network until said jailbreak comes out!

except one of them blew up because the antenna bridged a gap in the circuitry. Sounds like a legal nightmare to me.

I'd be wary. I can't see O2 unlocking a sim-free for £15 again, when they know their Irish brethern are getting €150 for the same thing.

Hey guys, I recommend any iPhone 4 users who need jailbreak or unlock use http://3.ly/zN58 to back up their SHSHs NOW, and not upgrade.
