A good mix of weights and cardio

    Hi all,

I am just coming to the end of a weight lifting programme called Chalean Extreme (its a home workout boxset) and am totally loving the way that its helped me change the shape of my arms and my overall posture, Im a total convert to weights. However Ive ordered a new boxset now called Insanity and its pretty heavy going (almost bootcamp style) cardio and Im afraid that Ill lose the bit of muscle I gained cos although there is push ups and plank and stuff in the Insanity, there is no actual weights.

My question is, is 2x resistance sessions a week okay to maintain muscle or is 3 a week the best. I suppose I want to stay toned and lose a small bit of weight but nothing major, I just dont want to be a skinny fat looking person!!

I think same guy who did Insanity also did P90X which is a mix of cardio, stretching and resistance exercises

I bought P90X on Amazon a while ago

Tony Horton did P90X and Shaun T did Insanity. P90X is way too hardcore for my own liking but I suppose it shows that he did a good combination of both and got results.

I suppose what I am kind of asking is that I dont want to spend my whole life working out just to fit in 3 resistance sessions a week, I also run 3 times a week and then this. I know its important to mix things up and thats why I chose Insanity but it just all seems a bit too much now, I suppose I dont have to follow the 60 day rule and just space out those workouts with days of resistance in between
