Sky cancellation query

I ordered Sky last week and it is due to be installed tomorrow. We found out after ordering it that the landlord does not want the dish on the front of the house (policy of the management company of the estate). If they come out tomorrow and say they cannot put the dish on the back of the house I will need to cancel the contract.

Can I do this because it is within 30 days or something??

Sorry if this is dealt with elsewhere, thanks :)

It can be mounted at the back of the house using a stand off bracket.

I dont know if the sky installers would do this though, no harm in asking, it may cost a bit more too though.

the dish will need to be facing south east, is that to the front?

I believe its called a 'cooling off period'. This is when a consumer may legally withdraw from a contract without incurring a penalty. The cooling off period is generally around 7 working days from the date you receive the terms and conditions of the contract. This can vary per service provider so i would check your contract with them. :)

There is no problem cancelling, the installer will just put the job down as cancelled/unable to install.Just check where your neighbours dishes are to get an idea where yours might be placed. If the back of your house is south facing your grand. An estate near me has all dishes installed on chimney's as part of the rules,it actually looks tidy apart from one foreign dish stuck on the front of the house (as usual nothing will be said).

If you ordered sky from Sky directly or through a Sales rep then your install is known as a standard digital install [in and out fast job] and its highly unlikely that the sub/sub contractors they use would have any sort of T+K or standoff brackets in the Van. If the contractor can't or won't do the install contact your local Satellite/ Aerial rigger he would have all the necessary Equipment and Brackets to do the job.

Just rang sky to cancel the contract there and explained the situation. He said that the installer will put it on the back of the house tomorrow (with brackets or whatever) and will do it at no extra charge. That's all depending on him being able to get a point of sight of course so I'll see how I get on tomorrow!! Thanks for the replies
