Do you think this movies is modern, gives you a sense of how to have a glamourous lifestyle?

And for the ladies, does this film make you a follower of the main characters? Do you like them, would like to live their life, be like them?

Please, care to explain in detail what do you think about this movie.

    three women and their horse

Haven't seen it, don't want to, would rather tear my eyes out etc etc
Hate those whingey, vapid, self-centered women especially Carrie or whatever her name is

What's your opinion on the film? You sound like you're doing a survey or something!

I was never a follower of the series, although I've seen a few episodes. I saw an episode once where Carrie realises how much she has spent on shoes in her lifetime and that she could have used the money to buy an apartment... Which is ridiculous.

I have no real interest in living that sort of lifestyle. I like cocktails and I like pretty shoes, but there is more to life.

One of the worst shows ever created.

The fact that the main character looks like a foot sums it up.

I'm embarrassed for people that watch it.

It's a great movie. Probably not as good as the first one but still very entertaining. I saw it three times in total compared with 8 for the first one.

Never seen the show or films, but from what I gather it's about 4 over the hill hoes jumping on the hoe train that travels around the world.

Wow, Lots of Family Guy fans here!

But seriously, the movies and the TV show were absolute Muck. You'd need a labotomy to enjoy them.

As a fan of the series and kinda of the first film, this was crap

Bella_purple, sometimes lazy journalists post on boards to get responses instead of doing proper surveys. It is a source of irritation for other boards users when their anecdotes and opinions are used and quoted on radio shows or in trashy newspapers. The obvious signs of this are accounts that are quite new, and posts that ask very specific questions without giving any of their own opinions.

I have looked through your other posts and don't think you're a journalist, but just thought that you should be aware that this happens so you'll understand any negative responses that you might get. The best way to get around this is to give your own opinions when you're starting a thread - instead of just asking questions, let us know what you think of the film, and whether it makes you want to live a glamorous lifestyle, or if it makes you want to throw your popcorn at the screen in rage.

(oh, and I hated the Irish nanny in the film. Where did she get that awful accent?)

The hamfisted way in which they attempted to tackle the problem of sexism in muslim societies was so unashamedly insulting that it should have been cut out entirely.
Yeah. I saw the terrible bloody thing. I am woman hear me roar. New cinematic lowpoint.

Ok so it's not locked, just moved.

I didn't want to post my opinion 1st because it is negative and didn't want to transform the discussion towards criticism against this movie, starting with me. I thought it would be more fair-play for people to say their point of view and then me. That's the case when a good intention turns to be a bad one if not well advertised, Fishie :D .
The motivation of this thread is to know Irish people, I'm so curious. I always thought in the west countries a mainstream movie is better received because it's close to consumerism. Also, I know Ireland has ties with American culture.
I'm not a journalist, not even a lazy one...

One of my female friends said this film is so good because teaches women to respect themselves. We even have a discussion about this. While I think women should always treat themselves saucy and never forget they are women, still, this film it's nothing but shallow marketing.

It's recieved even worse over here because of the horrible Oirish stereotype they shamefully threw in

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 63 ✭✭Bella_purple

I guess stereotyping is another way of proving you're shallow...

I can see what everyone thinks of SATC2 as true in some way, but imho its just supposed to be a fun movie, it has a fair few funny moments tbh, and the characters are changed in different ways since the TV show and you can understand why.
Am still wondering how there going to make the third one, apparrantly theres a 3rd, because there will have to be some dramatic climax of some sort, with one or all of them.

A fun movie is all well and good. However you can have a fun movie without it being insulting, racist and sexist all in one glorious obscene package.

Did you not find the Oirish nanny patronising?

Ha! i forgot about that lol, well she had quite a massive rack so...............;):D
The racist thing wasnt very blatant tbh, they just mentioned what most of us, imho, would say if we were in a country like that as were not used to it. thats just imho though :)
