Good cultural holiday - for one week

    Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend me somewhere reasonably priced with plenty of cultural stuff to do for about a week.

I'm not into lying on a beach and would love to do India this year, but I fear it'll leave me screwed time off-wise as you'd need at least two weeks to do it.

To give you an idea of what I like, I've been to Turkey (Cappadocia, Istanbul), Mexico, Egypt (wasn't crazy about the place). I'm looking for somewhere interesting, where I'm going to see something different from the norm.

I've considered Israel/Lebanon, perhaps Bosnia/Croatia. Toyed with the idea of hitting Morocco in the past, but my experience of being ripped off at every turn in Egypt would leave me reluctant to visit another Arab country (yes, I know Lebanon is Arab too).

Looking at September/October, somewhere within a reasonable flight distance so I don't totally waste two days going there and coming back.

    Suggestions?

How about Berlin? Fantastic city, plenty of cultural things to do, it's a fascinating place. Has a great vibe too, I'd love the opportunity to hang around there for a week!

The obvious..Rome or Paris or Vienna?

I did India in 10 days. A bit rushed but got to Delhi, Jaipur, Agra and Ranthambore National Park. Short but excellent trip.

How about Jordan, not too far flying time and plenty to see and do like Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea.

If you have an interest in WWII, Normandy and/or Jersey.

Or Malta is quite interesting too, given the action packed history of the island.
