At the moment I am employed and paying tax the last four years. I am planning a year out in austrailia. When I come back if I cannot find a job will I be able to claim my full SW as I will not have used up my Jobseekers Benifit credits so to speak. Or will I go on job seekers allowance and be means tested. Id hate to pay four years tax and on my return it will not be worth a thing. Anyone know anyting on this situation.

Ill probably go down to SW office anyway but just looking for a quick answer if theres one available.

You can only claim your credits from two years back. So if you go down under and then return your credits may not be valid unless you return after a year. But you can get credits from working in Australia to go towards your Irish pension.
