    Hey guys,

Ok, my PC has finally imploded so I'm 'borrowing' my work project mac as my own for a while til I get money together to buy a new laptop. So, I can't afford apperture/ photoshop for mac etc, so I'm looking for a decent alternative. I know you can get gimp for mac, but was just wondering if anyone out there is using it/ has any other recommendations?

    cheers guys,

    Zo

Do you need it for more than 30 days? As else you could download the trial version of photoshop/aperature/lightroom

I'd love to say I'll be able to afford a laptop in less than a month, but sadly no! So yeah, I'd need it for a while. I know I can keep picassa but in case i need something a bit more heavy duty i was hoping someone might recommend something, rater than have to go through major trial and error!

GIMP is available for Mac, as are most free & open source software packages.

You might need something called "ports" in order to install some of them.

You will want to look for Mac-specific versions of them if you can find them.

How indepth will your editing needs be? I'm wondering if some of the online editors would work for your needs? Something like thumba, or pixlr is really good (all things considered) and then you can get at it from windows, mac, linux, etc., and in chrome, ie, firefox, safari, etc...

Hmmm, tell mem ore about these online fellows!

Sounds interesting, I dont do huge amounts of editing, the main thing is my lens has some fungus on it so i occassionally need to get rid of little spots, and i find the picassa spot tool beyond awful.

    Thanks guys!
