Did anybody hear the open mic on fm104 last night? They had some girl covering it and my god it was terrible. It was more or less just three hours of what gigs she had been to see and non stop plugging for gigs that are coming up. Do fm104 not have a gig guide already??

Got a bit risky too when she was going on about Jonathan Ross and why the BBC were letting him go. I'm sure she would know about libel cases but she was certainly on the brink last night for the unconfirmed reports as to why the BBC were not keeping Jonathan Ross on.

IMHO the show was a shambles and I am very surprised at this standard from fm104. I listen to radio a lot when coming back from a gig or out with the missis and kids in the car but this was cringe radio.

On the plus their broadcasts from oxegen were extremely good. Great atmosphere to their OBs.

FM104 has been on a downward slope for a time now, granted its focus is top 40 music and styles itself on capitalfm but for me both stations' emphasis on promos during presenters' links is really annoying. 104 presenters seem unable to open up the mic without flogging some event, festival, competition ad nauseum, theres hardly any interaction with the listeners on calls for example on its your call, the links are robotic, lack personality and disengaging, one might as well have an ipod on. This has to be a contributing factor to their drop in listenership figures in recent times. If you couple this with ill prepared jocks like mark noble and ben murray who are prone to mumbling and saying 'em' repeatedly during links, it smacks of presenters simply going through the motions with nothing of interest to say. You would expect more from 104, perhaps changes should be made, otherwise they could soon be in third position behind 98fm and q102.

TBH i stopped listening to 104 a long time ago. The station and its presenters are of a poor enough standard these days, basically trying to compete for listeners with Spin and both have the same routine, plug plug plug whatever they can and dont acutally talk to people on the radio just tell them they and listen to them scream and go thank you OMG

The only show on 104 that has been losing audience is the Strawberry. The rest all have huge numbers and if you compare the dayparts to those on 98, Q and Spin you'll see they haven't had a "drop in listenership figures in recent times". We've seen your hatred of 104 on RW heybaby and your questioning of people that seem to be far more experienced than you so maybe it's more of a personal thing than actually an anorak one on your part.

Easy there horse, hatred is a pretty strong word. I would rather you used the term 'dislike', far less agressive. As for my voicing my criticism of fm104, I have absolutely no personal agenda, as i have never applied to Fm104, hence never been rejected, and have never met the individuals concerned. I merely empathise with others on these boards who find 104's links bland, and that im afraid, is down to the jocks and or PD. Alas i dont have the insider breakdown of figures you have mark, but utv will only tolerate falling figures for so long before much needed changes are made. Believe me fm104 is a station i want to like. Right now i dont.
