    i dont know

    * QE and devaluation leading to inflation being double the target and still quickly rising
    * savers being raped
    * house prices are still at bubble levels
    * severe cuts in public sector and welfare (which is well bellow irish one)
    * rapidly rising national debt
    * the gap between imports and exports grew despite a weaker pound

    some "recovery"

    then again unemployment is less, but then they didnt have a quarter of economy based on construction

    And Britain maufacturing base which has really struggled over the past few decades will come under further pressure now that the Euro has devalued against Sterling.

    Not good for GDP statistics going forward.

    Larry Elliots piece in this mornings Guardian is timely

    Kinda puts a new gloss on the GDP figures

    It is British style hyping of property and boom and bust policies that we are trying to get away from. Try Canada, who learned their lesson from the past.

    And their PM has just become a celebrity. Why would his daughter have anything to do with politics? £150 or something to encourage marriage? Probably the most stupid thing I've heard. Many would say they are out of recession to encourage spending. Whatever the figure shows its not very satisfying.
