Erm this is probably a stupid question (and I've had a search for this on google already) but am I right in thinking that rotary shavers don't do the moustache area very well? :P

No. They work way better than foil razors in my experience on the moustache area.

This is a great razor, been using it for two years now and it gives a shave just as close as any wet blade razor.

Nope... we'll have some beard at this rate (from amazon below):

    Not yet dispatched
    Dispatch Estimate: 30 July 2010 - 9 Aug 2010

    Delivery Estimate: 6 Aug 2010 - 16 Aug 2010

I got mine delivered last Friday.
It is not too bad and gives a reasonably close shave. If fact, I'd say it is nearly as close as a wet shave. You definitely need to use plenty of the skin conditioner.
It really needs to be cleaned after each use, as the combination of conditioner and no seperate hair collection could lead to the blades getting clogged up, if allowed to dry out.
The charging takes quite a while and the charging stand is a bit skimpy. You could easily misplace it .
The instructions are extremely sparse. Here's a link to a more comprehensive user manual:
    http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/h/hs8420_40/hs8420_40_dfu_aen.pdf

Overall, I'm happy enough with it.

I cant comment on the razor you're looking at but after buying the razor in the OP I've stopped using it and gone back to a wet shave.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,055 ✭✭✭suppafly

i thought this electric razor did a "wet shave" also with the oinment coming out from the razor?

Well it does and that bit works well but I found the razor itself to be fairly poor

can any of you recommend an electric razor for me to buy?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,776 ✭✭✭podge3

The razor in the OP has completely eliminated my razor burn.

It may not be the fastest remover of facial hair but it does an excellent job overall and no irritated neck :D

As I'm the OP, I thought I'd give an update.
I find it reasonably good. As I said before, it is not really designed to be used dry. It needs plenty of the skin lubricant applied as you are shaving.
I'd agree with Podge3 that it doesn't irritate the neck area.

Overall I'm happy enough with it.
