Spare Keys Audi & VW

    I need spare keys for a 1999 Audi A8 and a 2007 Passat - any advice on the cheapest place to get them? I have VAG-COM, if it's any help.

    Got one for €55 +VAT from my local VW dealer. It was for a 98 A3.

    Coded the key myself with VAGCOM.

    You'll need the VLC and drivers license to order. I ordered at 10am on a Monday morning and picked it up on the Tuesday afternoon.

    If you get a key from another 2007 Passat can you re-code that via VAG-COM and just buy the blade insert if required?

    I did a google and it appears that the key can only be coded to one car, so it looks as though that'll have to be bought new. I think the older Audi keys can be recoded, though.

    Shame, as I may have had a spare one hanging around my desk that I've no idea which car it belongs to.
