At least we will be put out of our misery next week.

    Armagh, Cork, Derry, Down.

Dublin v Armagh will be tasty, don't fancy us to much and going by what i've seen so far this year i fully expect Armagh to beat us. Nobody fears us, as there is nothing to fear.

What weekend will those games be played?

I'd say Kildare might beat Derry.
It'll be a close match imo and could go anyway.
Both teams on really the same level.

happy with that. don't know how dublin fair against armagh. dublin could be knocked out before half time! wexford and cork be a tough match. could go either way for the rest of the proposed matches.

Bad draw for the yelowbellies. Cork dont suit our flowing football. At least its at home tho.

Wexford will put up a lot better display than Cavan gave to Cork yesterday. While i reckon Cork will win i think it'll be a lot closer game than what some people are predicting.

Any chance that the Dublin footballers and hurlers get a double header in Croker?

dublin will be at croker next week unfortunately

My heart still hasn't recovered from the shock I got when I heard Dublin got a home draw.

will it be in croke park

yes as far as i know

Armagh were very poor when i saw them against Monaghan. I would say Dublin will win by 1 or 2.

Delighted with the Offaly draw. Lets hope they put up a better fight than that diabolical display 2 years ago

    cork
    down
    derry all to win..

Armagh were very very poor against monaghan and even worse against fermanagh, but they shud beat Dublin by 4 or 5 points! :D:D

Wrong. It will be in Croke Park, not Parnell Park. Dublin very rarely get home games in the championship. It is a neutral venue. As for those that say Croke Park is an advantage to the Dubs, well we haven't won the All-Ireland since 1995 and nearly every one of those years saw us being knocked out of the championship in Croke Park. Not much of an advantage, is it? Also, for any of the big counties it is a place they are very comfortable in, like a home ground. Finally, there is nothing to motivate a team and their fans like taking on the Dubs in Croke Park.

As for the game itself, Dublin certainly need to improve, but Armagh are coming in with question marks over them too. Both teams will be up for it. Cork and Down should win their matches. Kildare and Derry could be interesting.

A trip to Croke should bring out the best in Armagh and they'll win by 4 or 5. The only advantage Croke Park gives Dublin is the odd hammering they give out in Leinster against nervous opposition, against the better teams it turns them into the nervous side leading to the disasters of recent years.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,235 ✭✭✭✭flahavaj

I think its the end of the road for the Dubs for another Summer. Stevie from Killeavy will be licking his lips at the prospect of facing that backline.

Also see wins for Kildare, Down and Cork.

Lol are u serious. You are saying it would be more of an advantage for Dublin to play in Parnell Park in front of 12,000 fans instead of the hill roaring them on?

Dublin v Armagh - I'm going for Dublin in this one as I think they should have enough to beat Armagh. Armagh have had two impressive wins but I think that Dublin, even in their current state are a totally different proposition to Donegal and Fermanagh and I think it being in Croke Park can only be an advantage for Dublin in this match!

Wexford v Cork - If Wexford can manage to keep this close going into the final stages they have a real chance of an upset imo, but I fancy Cork to take it by 5 or 6 points.

Derry v Kildare - Kildare haven't looked the same force as last year and I think Derry's home advantage might swing this one for them.

Offally v Down - Down are a handy enough young team imo, and should have too much for Offaly even though Offaly are at home.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,816 ✭✭✭corny

Not convinced by Armagh at all. Not really convinced by Dublin much either but although their defence is porous Armagh never really attack in numbers. If Dublin can stop Stevie Mac i can see them winning handy.

Although Wexford had an excellent and morale boosting win against Galway i'd expect Cork to really overpower them.

Derry and Kildare should be the tie of the round. Close but i'll go for Kildare.

    Down will win.

Armagh - big enough team to attract a good crowd, yet weak enough for the Dubs to progress. A perfect match.

Don't expect the dubs to get through.

Will miss the game if on Saturday (presume it will be played on Sat)

I doubt they will get more than 30,000 at the Dublin v Armagh game. I think the Dubs supporters have no faith in Gilroy and his tactics.

After Meath were pretty much handed the Delaney cup shouldn't you be keeping kinda quiet about things being rigged?

and Armagh people might but me right on this but i dont think that Armagh people have much faith in the team either.

I don't have much confidence in this Dublin team or Management. I'd say that if Armagh can get themselves organised and disciplined they can beat the Dubs on Saturday. As for Dublin I think they may win by a point or two but its not going to be pretty.

Yes it is more of an advantage for Dublin to play in Parnell Park than in Corke Park, especially during the qualifier phase. I am sure the Dublin team would love to get to a smaller ground and out of the limelight so that they can work their way back to some sort of form. I know a lot of Dublin fans that were at the game last week were actually looking for an away draw. Croke park is no advantage to Dublin.

Around 3pm this afternoon, talk of another double header with the hurlers.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28 StPatsFc

Why was there no draw for home advantage last night for the hurling.
I was aware that Offaly could only play Tipp but who gets home draw ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,341 ✭✭✭El Horseboxo

Antrim v Dublin in the Hurling at 3 pm this Saturday with Dublin v Armagh in the football at 5pm. Double header in croker. Just hearing that now through my club when they were looking for my ticket order. Was looking forward to a road trip for the hurling.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,235 ✭✭✭✭flahavaj

I wonder will they play the Tipp/Offaly Hurling Qualifier at 5 pm in Thurles before the Munster Final replay at 7? Would be a nice little double header.

It was never going to be in Croker.

They should redesign the new Muller ad with Dublin fans as we are the GAA's cash cow.

    MOO!

Times and dates for the qualifiers are confirmed

    http://www.rte.ie/sport/gaa/championship/2010/0712/gaa.html
The GAA have confirmed the dates, times and venues for the next round of the football qualifiers.

All games take place next weekend and there will be a double header at Croke Park on Saturday 17 July with Dublin taking on Antrim in the hurling qualifiers at 3pm, followed by Dublin versus Armagh in the Senior Football Championship at 5pm.

Derry play Kildare at Celtic Park at 3pm on Saturday, while Offaly face Down in Tullamore later that evening at 7pm.

The Munster hurling final replay between Cork and Waterford is down for Semple Stadium at 7pm on Saturday.

On Sunday 18 July the Wexford footballers play Cork at 3.30pm in Wexford Park, while at the same time in Portlaoise, Tipp take on Offaly in the hurling qualifiers.

    Armagh
    Cork
    Kildare
    Down

But you see the sheep will return this Saturday because it will be:

    a) dry

    b) Oxegen is over

    c) it's Saturday, let's get loaded in the pub beforehand

    &

    d) the World Cup is over!
