    Hey lads.
I have a citroen berlingo multispace 1.4l and the front cigarette lighter outputs 12v.
There is a cigarette lighter socket in the boot but it only gives out 8V.
Any ideas what the issue could be.

    Thanks for the help.

contacts at the back may be rusty, of plug itself may be.

I have taken it apart and testing the wires itself still get 8V.

Well, going by your sig, if you're taking it to Mongolia, the cigarette lighter is going to be the least of your worries! :D

does the socket stay on while the cars on and off ? or does it only come on with the engine started ? if the latter there may be a relay broken somewhere that could be adding resistance and dropping it to 8 volts, if not id say it could be a bad ground or some cable thats been spliced to install some piece of aftermarket gear (fan, lights, heater, more sockets, cb radio etc...) and is leaving that 8v drop accross the socket
