hi my friend has locked his keys in boot of a 316i saloon....he has been told that the only way to get in is to cut the boot or order a replacement key from germany does any body know of an easier and less expensive way...seemingly the back seats dont have button to bring them down to allow access

    thanks

No spare key? Should have got one when he bought it?

A good locksmith will be able to pick the lock on the boot.

If you can get it to a mechanic, it can be opened by disassembling part of the car. Can't remember exactly how it's done, but a few mechanics in the BMW dealership I used to work in had this down to an art on the e46 saloons.

Is there a boot opening catch in the car itself near the steering wheel? On a different car where that happened we managed to force the drivers window open (non electric) a little and used a coat hanger to pull the boot release. That was a number of years ago, so more modern cars might resist such treatment.

remove back seats, the might not flip down, but their not welded in, nuts n bolts nuts n bolts , quite easy , it should allow access , if only for your arm or a stick to reach for keys,

It can be done via the diagnostic port, I'm assuming the car is open... Where is he stuck?

Don't cut the lock or boot!!!

some bmw's have a petal plate behind the seats, there is no access to the boot from inside the car whatsoever, my uncle had a 98 523 like that
