Think this is my first post in this forum, despite all my readings of it.

Came across this little gem from 1905, Shaving made easy; What the Man Who Shaves Ought to Know. Nice little book, gives a glimpse into the past. Well worth a look IMO, even if for nostalgia purposes...

Thanks for that, always fascinating to get an insight into times past. From an era when cut-throat razors reigned supreme I wonder how many of us have ever tried to shave with one. I certainly haven't and not sure I would want to try. The author didn't seem to have much time for those new fangled safety razors though!

I cheat and shave with a straight edge with a disposable blade. I plan once I get a bit more money to splash out and buy the real thing, razor, hone and strop...

I believe this was posted before in the Safety Razor thread. Good to see it again though.

I have one and use it from time to time, though most of the time I shave with a DE. Using the straight razor is quite an experience. The smoothness of the shave is not like anything else. In my forthcoming retirement (three months away :D), when I have time in the mornings, I hope to explore it further.
