Got a monthly subscription for square mile coffee in the UK and wanted to make sure i was getting most out of it.

Is using a plunger for most of it ok as many of the beans seem to be best for filter?

God yeah, the plunger (mainly) or the V60 is all I use, make sure you're brewing correctlly :)

    It's a great sub btw.

Invest in a V60 aswell. As much as I like plunger the V60 and filter is a whole different game.

watched the video and many great tips (so well done also) but my wife would have a fit if i turned up with a scales for the coffee - the burr grinder, gaggiaand my green star juicer already taking up too much prime counter top real estate space

A digital scales is vital! Just use it a couple of times at the start until you figure out by sight what the same volume is or figure out how many spoons/scoops that weight is.

As gran hermano said the weighing is a vital step. i know you have invested transform in some quality kit so don't stop there! in fact some of the scales on the market are smaller than others - i picked up a brabantia one in tkmaxx over the weekend which isn't much bigger than my hario kit:

I would have thought you would have a scales already. I cannot listen to that video, not sure if it mentions preheating the french press, otherwise the cold grinds and glass/metal will draw a lot of heat from the water. He is using an vacuum insulated press, I have one the same and it is great.

I also have that particular scale he is using and would recommend any of those salters -some others have slower reaction time. http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/8422219/Trail/searchtext%3ESALTER.htm
