Does anyone know if it's possible to get a "health check" done on your plumbing, checking everything out? I'd love to get a report to say there's no obstructions in the sewerage, that there are no leaks anywhere, things like that. Is this possible without ripping the place apart?

You could get a plumber (proper plumber) to visually inspect your system. This would be just a visual inspection of the pipe work, appliances and sanitary ware in your house that is on the surface. It would be hard to inspect the hidden stuff because floor boards and the like would have to be lifted and so on. I have done inspections and a lot of premises fail in the attic. Pipes not insulated, tanks not insulated, expansion pipe not looking into the tank, no lids on tanks, tanks not supported properly overflow pipe not connected properly to tanks and the likes. And on the heating side. Safety valves on boilers not terminating out side, rad valves weeping and the biggest one is fouled up heating systems that need to be flushed.

It can be done. The problem is getting some one reliable to do it.

I'd say the same thing as johnnie ,most good plumbers would know if your system is ok by looking at what way the visible pipework is done.

It's easy to tell is someone knows what they're doing ,when you look in the hotpress and in the attic.

If your getting your boiler serviced ,it wouldn't be any harm to ask your plumber to have a quick look at the plumbing. You'll get a quick yay or nay ,depending on how good the pipework is.
Board Gais service lads won't entertain this though ,you'll need a proper plumber to tell you.

Next time your ring around for a service ,ask the guy to do this aswell ,you'll soon find out who's good or not;)
