I have seen this crap around the States, in recent years.
What do you think of this Fascism, and how long until it hits the streets here! Criminalising driving around an area! What next?

Yeah well thats called Policing, harassing innocent people for driving on public roads which they pay for the privelege of using. If you want to drive up an down a street like Dame street here for example, and you obey the speed limit and drive normally. What the F#*K has it got to do with some nosey copper? If they are up to something take the reg and observe, anyway drug dealers etc.. will probably be known anyway!

    I don't mind. Then again I don't cruise/boyrace.
Don't think they'll get you if you're just going round a few times looking for a parking spot.

No doubt ANPR cameras would be utilised that would spit out automated summonses just like the toll plazas.

Difficult one in the courts to prove, someone could be looking for their pet dog or child that has gone missing. :p

I don't see what the issue is.

They can put a limit on how fast you can drive through an area, they can insist that you wrap a piece of fabric around you bfore you start to drive your car, they can paint yellow lines on the road to tell you where you can and can't park your car. How are they any different from this particular restriction?

What of you were ferrying people to & from a party?

If you pass the zone 4 times in an hour picking people up at a party, maybe they should be walking home!

several of the cities I lived in had these laws (santa clara, santa cruz in ca, and tempe az are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head) and if you ever tried to go anywhere on a sat evening you would see why. its just a gridlock of 16-21 yr olds (then they can drink so it stops:)) driving up and down in their daddies cars with their mates. its like being stuck in a boy racer meeting without any nice cars to look at!
I agree that there are too many laws in the states (land of the free me arse) but this one I do agree with.
The cops will stop you and give you a warning before any action is taken though (happened to me a couple of times while I was looking for a place to park) the're ok if you have a decent reason and you dont take the piss.

Over here they tell you you have to carry a certain type of passenger.

    When on a learners permit

Driving is a privilege not a right so they can do as they please.
