    Stori lads,

Im 19 and i've full license with 2 years NCB. Im thinkin of getting a 96 Integra 1.6 however no companies would quote me online. I've read about this method of insuring a small engine car and after a couple of weeks telling the insurer that you have bought a new car and want to switch over, but would this work in my case?
I dont want to buy the car and then find out that it wont work and theres no chance of me getting insured,so i have to be 100% sure that its gonna work.
I rang up my insurer a while ago and was told i have to be 21 to get insured on the teg.

    Any replies much appreciated :)

Why would you bother getting insured on a 1.6 non vtec integra? Id get a 1.6 vtec civic if i were in your shoes.

i read somewhere that Integras are statistically one of the most stolen cars in the world (this might actually only be type R's but from an insurance point of view they might bundle them together)

I don't know if you would get a re-quote and I don't know if anyone will say for definite that you will. What you need to consider is if they do quote you on the Integra, how much will that quote be? My guess is that it would be an astronomical amount. Leaving you in the position where you can't afford it and have no choice but to drive the first car you insured!

To be honest if I was in your position I wouldn't do it. Find something else that you like and drive that for a couple of years.

I'd say they will still refuse.

i also have my eyes on a 95 civic 1.5 vtec, going to have a look at it later on today.
Went up to quinn direct they said i can switch over to the 1.5 vtec and the price wont change,so happy days but once i have to renew the premium will probably go up by a good bit.

excess.ie will insure you but at a very high excess , so in a sense you are self insuring

If your wallet is big enough you can get insured in almost anything...
where do you draw the line? 2.3.4 grand? I personally would look at other options.
If you decide to go for it make a list of every insurance company you come across (mabye 15-20) and ring each individually twice or three times until you get a good quote. It pays to shop around but its a pain in the ass

Go with quinn insurance and insure something cheap then Get one of your parents to insure a proper integra type r on a seperate policy. You can then drive any car that is insured on a quinn policy. Heard it works. People are doing it now

Thats a grey area to be fair.

Its very dodgy if you crash and look to claim.
