No, not the absence of thanks on posts!
We all know the thanks button, basically giving a big old high 5 to a persons post.
Why can't we have it's opposite? When we see a post that is just so silly, that we disagree with vehemently, we need to let people know dammit!

A no thanks button? A Fail button?
I like the fail button now that i think of it.

Your post has been FAILED by the following posters etc.....

Thoughts? I searched, but did not see this mentioned previously, but would be a difficult topic to search for! If this came up previously, I do apologise :)

I sure could use it right about now.

But, eh, no. Especially if it says "Your post has been FAILED by the following posters".

Would it not just be the final nail in the ciffin of communication - threads would be one single post with names at the bottom.

There is something satisfying about typing FAIL.

This has been discussed in Feedback and turned down.
Search for "Reputation", a system that never worked great for us.

I think a system of lolcats would be cool.

I once thought I'd like to see a facepalm smiley, but then I thought I'd see even less of Picards sexy shiny head and that just won't do.

    Viva la Picard!

Haha anyone remember the Karma system? This would just be a rehashing of that. That said, I liked the Karma system. The feeling of elation upon seeing that extra green dot :pac:

Failed......I'd give you a no thanks just for that
You don't go around your workplace or friends exclaiming FAIL so don't use it here

you might be surprised at how many people actually do.

i actually know someone who says 'lol' now instead of actually laughing and once even verbalised a roflcopter.

    we're all doomed. :(

There already is a "no thanks" button. It's called....if you don't agree with a post, then don't thank it.

NO Thanks buttonIts a good idea but from previous threads its obvious the people who really matter around here (and their sycophants) dont like the idea.

They say the old rep system didnt work but thats not exactly true either...... just didn't do what they wanted it to do.

Depends on the circumstances. Sometimes, ya gotta fail people :)

Just assume that everyone who doesn't thank your post hates you.

    That's what I do anyway.

A reputation system is great when its used responsibly. I used to visit a technology site's forum that used a reputation system to screen new members. It was good at weeding out idiots who were just trying to join for all the wrong reasons.

I think here on boards, especially on AH, it would just be abused though! :D

I think it's a really stupid idea as it would only encourage people to disagree with someones commentes without bothering to say why they disagree.

A post rating system would be better...like the old Youtube method before they dumbed it down to a thumbs up/down button.

People who really loved the post could give it 5 stars, those who hated it could give it 1 stars, and the less emotional among us could give somewhere in between.

I'd thank your post for being funny, but I don't want to give you the wrong impression...

An exam or test is "failed" or "passed".

    A post cannot be "failed".
