Just let her get on with it. Make sure your calm around her and that the place is in low light. She will do the rest. There can be quite some time between pups so don't panic! When she has her last pup she will pass the placenta and eat it so thats natural. Things I look for are; is she straining for some time trying to pass a big pup and also she will cut the umbilical cords herself but keep an eye that she doesn't tear nearer the navel.
The dog will probably do it all herself so don't worry about it. In fact she may not even want you to be there, only you know how your dog is reacting.

Good luck and keep us posted!

keep an eye on her. she'll do it all herself. main thing to be vigilint of is a pup that wont come out, turned the wrong way. as long she doesnt seem to distressed and the pups are coming along freely then she she'll be fine.

ah congrats mate. four strong pups is plenty for a first time mum to be looking after. in all the litters weve had born here in this house weve never had 100% survival. at least one doesnt make it, iv watched an ould rotty bitch i had take the runt away from her litter every time, its not nice but it happens, we couldnt watch her 24/7 so the runt would eventually die. best of luck with them and keep us up to date on them. :D
