Toyodiy.com is fantastic if you own a Toyota

While MicksGarages is okay for standard filters / oil etc, it's not great on spare parts and it's search tool is useless! Parts are only marginally better than Halfords when shipping is taken into account too...

    Pissing rain down here!

I either buy from a motorfactors, I buy used or I buy in a scrappie... I'm not mad on buying parts online, namely because half the time it's nearly as expensive.

Couldn't agree, Micksgarage is terrible for searching on and doesn't do spares. I have tried on a number of occasions looked for parts off them but no dice on any of the parts.

Now that NL site is a very good solution :)

I've gotten 10 or so parts in the last month off of them, all came within 2 days and all delivery charges knocked off as I collected rather than had them delivered.

I found searching easy once you knew your cars engine code.

I ordered parts off this crowd last weekend:

    http://www.vwspares.co.uk/

Fed - Ex just rang me earlier today asking for directions. The parts including postage ware cheaper than Otto (thats with the 17.5 % tax rate, its going to increase soon thou) by about 10quid.

Only does VAG group cars. I think there is definately an opening for another online car parts distributor in Ireland though.

Micks garage are extremely expensive for example a set of Valeo Aero Wiper Blades from them for my car a 03 Passat is 38 euro + postage.

I bought a Bosch set from Halfords (who arent exactly cheap either) a week ago for 35euro.

I remember quering them about a repalcement wing for a car about 3 years ago again they were extremely expensive for a patent part.

From using their site they would want to optimise them MySql search querys its very sluggish for searching for parts.

I buy my bimmer parts from http://www.schmiedmann.de/. Can't fault them. Shipping can be pricey though so I buy in bulk.

Fair enough but most people don't know or have to hand their engine number. It should be a lot easier to search than that.

It is as said above more expensive than others.

Good luck to them though, they are doing well.
