    Hi everyone,

My gf is a bit down recently, she doesnt have much to do with her time (no job) and i've been racking my brains with trying to think of something special we can do together, something different, i have a car so getting somewhere (around dublin area) isnt a problem, we're both in our early 20's, we could do the whole dinner and drinks thing i suppose but i want to pull out all the stock, and really do something different for her.

Any ideas anyone? Anything will help

    Thanks

How about taking her off for a romantic weekend down in Wicklow, or anywhere for that matter, just a couple of days relaxation, walks on the beach, romantic dinners. Or even, a quick trip over to England for the weekend, budget permitting of course.

As above, day out with a picnic would be nice. Or go to the zoo. If money isn't too tight for yourself, what about jumping on a ferry and going to Wales for the day? Or even head somewhere else in Ireland, just get up early and start driving. If she doesn't work and is getting bored with her daily routine, a change of scenery would be the best bet IMO

Yeah and if ye live together it might be an idea if ye are going somewhere to have her bag packed the night before as a surprise, if ye are going to stay somewhere nice........would just be nice 'n thoughtful.

fair play, but keep in mind, that if she's fed up about having no money that a big fancy trip might not be what she's looking for.
Might remind her that she cant afford to do these things off her own funds.
    Good work

my ex. took me to different places with his car even when we were just friends.
we seldom had nice dinners, but we went to different places. it was so happy to spend my time with him.

dublin mountain is beautiful over the night.
in sandycove, there is a little hill and have nice view.
    walking from bray to greystones.
hiking in county Down, the second highest mountain in ireland. and it's not too difficult.
county kerry is beautiful and you can challenge the highest mountain there.
go to sligo to see the grave of w.b. yeats.
go to the beach and jump into the cold sea.
drive along the coast of donegal.

... get a tourist book and travel round ireland. ireland is a very beautiful country with breathtaking scenes and most of them just a day trip/ 2 day trip.

my oh has been out of work forever at this stage and we have become the experts on doing things for free :)

but this is the final weekend of football THANK GOD

and i have plan roughly this for next weekend - getting a picnic together and heading of in the car to wicklow

victorias way - this place is stunning http://www.victoriasway.eu/

then a drive up to the scalp/sallys gap, with a stop off to look at guinness house from the look out point

then off to glencree - to the german graveyard http://www.hidden-dublin.com/images/dublin/glencree1.html

then to enniskerry - to do the lovers leap walk http://enniskerry.ie/enniskerry-area/ten-walks-in-the-district-of-enniskerry/walk-four/

possibly then a stop off in powerscourt house (talking about powerscourt you cant beat a picnic at the waterfall). the house and gardens at powerscourt are stunning but just note you cant have a picnic in the grounds

all these places are really close to each other

we are also planning on availing of the 10e train tickets to cork and going to foto wildlife park for the day.

you could also go trekking in the wicklow mountains with brennanstown riding school, its reasonable enough and you dont have to be an experienced rider http://www.brennanstownrs.ie/trekking.aspx

as some else mentioned the cliff walk from bray to greystones is amazing personally i prefer to do this in the winter and finish in beach house with a well deserved pint of the black stuff

hmm, i wonder could i get a job working for wicklow tourism - there is soooo much to do

then heading the other direction, you have the hill of tara, newgrange, japenese gardens, the national stud, malahide house (wonderful grounds and house - with a little animal part), and dont even get me started on the phoniex park - you can do the free tour of the BIG HOUSE, the grounds and house of farmleigh are beautiful and they have market and festivals there every weekend during the summer, there are cricket games and horse polo games - we have been known to waste a huge part of our weekends here.

OMG then there are all the muesum in the city.

there so many wonderful romantic things to do around and just not enough time

i am sure whatever you do you gf will appreciate it because you took the time and effort to think about it and plan it. if you do go with the picnic idea, we got a fold up picnic rug and 2 small individual cool bags for next to nothing - well i thought they were nothing until i seen them in the 2 euro shop

everything i listed are things that we love to do, you know your gf better them us - you should think of what she likes. we are outdoor people - even if its raining you cant beat a car picnic with a playlist on the music box
