I was just listening to this on the news today and wondered what the outcome would be as I have had an 'experience ' of this in the last few months. Myself and another acquaintance had words and suddenly I started to get phone calls in the middle of the night. She had my phone number so I can only suspect. It seems the Gardai can investigate this 'harassment' and it looks like its a criminal offence now and rightly so. Have anyone had this experience because it is rather horrible and cowardly. Its good to know the Gardai have the right to prosecute people who do this. She will be sentenced on 28 July!

Yeah ,ladies people are nasty enough to do that to you, I just want you all to be aware it is a criminal offence for someone to do this to you. Yeah i have got over the shock someone can do this to you and its someone you talk to at the school gates! Shock, horror, some people are fairly nasty out there, but you have a recourse to the gardai, just so ye know.

That's horrendous, you've got to be completely cuckoo to go to that much effort to be horrible to someone - glad it's covered by legislation now.

In 2006 it was a criminal offence the law has now been changed, its just defamation, not criminal defamation!!!

defamation is a civil matter these days - the gardai don't really get involved (or shouldn't since it's not up to them)

harassment, on the other hand, I believe is still criminal.
