You know this is going to start a whole new round of Alfas are crap comments!

Seriously tho, is it red Alfas are poor quality? Or is it the red paint falls off, or?

That sounds very strange. That red has always faded, but it's never stopped them before!

Can't find an English language link yet though confirming this. Anyone know more?

It's a problem caused by brittle paint & it's not just an Alfa problem. Red Alfa Mitos & 159s have been worse effected by the problem with very bad stone-chipping of paint. In the UK many owners are having partial resprays to repair the cars under warranty.

The new Giulietta will now not be available in Alfa Red ( at least for the foreseeable future ) but will be available in a new Metallic Red ( Maranello Red, the same colour currently used on the current Fiat Bravo )

I'm sure they will be selling other shades of red. IMO Alfa Rosso (solid reds) do not suit modern cars. Just like metallic red would look wrong on classic Alfa's. RWD mainstream models would be more welcome than keeping an obsolete colour going for the sake of it.

Meh I dunno I think that happened when they released the hideousness that is the MiTo. Thou I admit the levels of ugliness varies with colour

i'm a motor head but still one shade of red out of the 250 possible shades our eyes can see? The car will still look good just don't park beside the chipped, scratched alfa and nobody would notice

Had a red Astra that also had a fading problem. I also saw another one that had an identical fade.

Doesnt red always fade over time unless you keep it protected with wax - i guess the clear coat does that these days

You haven't seen red fade as fast as on 80's and 90's Ford's!

Most of them are pink now! :D
