I was injured during the year, and had two A & E bills from rugby injuries. Initially I had trouble getting the money from the club. I was fully paid up member and played on the AIL team from time to time. Do most clubs try and resist helpig their players with this?

I've always had my physio and hospital fees payed by the club no questions asked. Are they skint?

Had physio paid for by the club. I didn't even tell them about it, they heard it through the grapevine and came to me offering cover and cost. So for your club to be like this (especially as a fully paid AIL playing member) is unusual.

Usually if you are in the first team of a club you are well looked after. Although I have heard rumours of a certain club being in a bit of financial hardship so perhaps you might have to work a bit for the money.

    Good grief, that's appalling.

We pay for A&E for our players and they are covered by AON's club insurance policy. However, we do always recommend that they take out sports insurance themselves if they want to be covered for something like physio.
To be honest, getting a club covered for something like that is utterly crippling and only the largest clubs could afford it.
The basic insurance package is expensive enough nowadays to cover a single team. :(

messed up my finger playing a J5 game this year [not your usual finger break, finger is basically dead and useless now] and it cost me a fortune to get sorted out [got much fair amount back from my own insurance]

I would never dream of even asking my club for a penny, they always tell us at the start of a season to get out your own insurance as the club and IRFU policys only cover you in the event of really really serious injury [loosing a limb, paralysis etc]

Every club is suposed to have insurance to participate. But i can tell you from experience that if a club isnt raking in the money then it will be claimed on the insurance, normally the player is expected to pay his/her bills at the time and keep the reciepts. The reciepts are then sent to insurance but can take quite some time to recieve anything back, (3-12months). But your club whoever they are will be insured and its for this reason they are so avail of it even if you need to initally pay the bills yourself.

    Best of luck

From my understanding the mandatory insurance covers practically nothing, and is basically a tax.

Give them Anglo`s head office as your home address, tell them they will look after it as they have all our money

This very topic was on my mind.

Previously played with one AIL club they covered everything..... broke my wrist last season and my club did not cover any of it. Cost a couple of hundred quid.

I guess it depends on the club culture and money.
