Any of you have any regrets?
Girls/ boys you didn't go after?
    Jobs you didn't take?
    Places you didn't go?

I suppose I wish I had studied harder in school instead of acting the fool all the time.

    So?

    Defo several regrets:

-Not putting more of an effort in for my Leaving Cert (got 480 points, and I spent most of 6th year playing poker and drinking; I shudder to think what I would have gotten had I bothered!!!:()

-Going to U.C.D. and doing fúcking Arts; missed my first choice (Psychology in U.C.D.) by 10 points the year I did the Leaving, and then didn't know what I wanted to do, so I did Arts and I've been regretting it ever since.

-There was one girl I always had a crush on in secondary school. She had it all; looks, personality and she was so unbelievably sound and nice to everyone. I never told her how I felt, I never took any affirmative action vis á vis my feelings for her. I obviously lost contact with her after secondary school, but I've seen her several times since, and I still haven't plucked up the courage to ask her for a drink/film/meal/SOMETHING... Even if she said "no", at least I could say I tried... but I didn't....

-Learning to play poker!!!:D (ah no, not really... I just think that bitterly sometimes after a bad beat!)

-Losing my virginity at 15; drunken fumbling was all, and I still hate that to this day.

-Quitting all manner of sports at around 19 when I went to college; and now thanks to night work, I can't go back to them.

presumably I have more, but these are the ones that stick out for me...

Someone once told me that regret was a wasted emotion, since whatever you regretted was exactly what you wanted to do at the time.

Not being assertive enough with a girl I know when I dated her. Should have kissed her (in my defence she just seemed closed off!!). Communication errors and lots of hurt later, she is actively flirting with another guy I know and he is smitten. Now I'm relegated to the friendzone. They will be f*cking each other soon. It should have been me. :(

    YEP. What was I thinking?

Apart from that, no major regrets.
I gave up hurling a few years ago. Kind of miss it but I replaced it with guitar which is a lot more fun.
Regretted not putting the effort in when I first did my leaving cert, but I went back and worked my hole off. Got what I wanted in the end.

I've made plenty of mistakes but have tried to learn the lesson from each one, sometimes the lesson has taken a while ;)

I regret eating that fish supper so quickly, im farting like a howitzer.

Spent a year and half chasing this girl, got nowhere with her. I'm quite glad we didn't get together in the end for various reasons, so I guess my regret is spending that much time of my college life chasing her

Im not one for regretting but the one thing in my life that I do is taking that first line of coke when i was 17, now dont get me wrong, i had a great two years on the stuff, but i regret the money i spent, and in the end the hurt it caused my mother just wasnt worth it one bit. Thankfully i copped the fcuk on and sorted myself out fairly sharpish and am well back on track.

    Plenty of em.

Never got that saying, "No regrets." either. Course people have regrets.

Regretting anything is a waste of time. Whatever you have done in your life - be it bad, stupid or wasteful - makes you who you are today. Every mistake is just a lesson learned & you can't live life without making mistakes and cannot learn from them unless you have made them.

I did well at languages in school - French and Spanish. German for a bit too. But I was too lazy and lacking ambition to pursue them at third level. I'm such a muppet for not doing a language degree - huge advantage to be bilingual/multilingual, especially in the current climate. Plus, apparently it's quite easy to get a job as a Spanish teacher.

There's regrets somewhere in there, pop into my head the odd time, usually a lost oppertunity at something. I try not to think about them, not dwell on the past, take each day as it comes.
