Can anybody tell me why the airbag light would be permantely stuck on in a 2002 Mini Cooper?? I've heard it can be a common enough problem. Somebody suggested just removing the bulb but would it still show up as a fault in an NCT test for example??

Most likely the one of the connectors under the seats registered a fault when the seat was moved or someone was hoovering, common enough in many hatchbacks/coupes especially with these connectors BMW were using.

There's been at least 2 threads on this, one by myself. Search for mini airbag, or bmw airbag

You'll need someone with the right software to link up to the car and diagnose which sensor and turn off the light (after maybe opening and closing the connector to make sure it has good contact).

You can't remove the bulb, it's a soldered in LED.

Get it to a mechanic with the proper diagnosis equipment - it's most likely the connector under the seat which will need attention.
