i'm asking for a friend. he has a 01 golf 1.4. there is a engine light on the dash that is on all the time. he's brought too two garages and there not sure whats wrong not main dearlers. he's been told it could be a coil pack that needs replacing

Do all VW's not have that light on ? I thought it was when it goes off you have a problem

I'd say its emissions related, usually if you delete them they come back and stay. Its in my fathers 1.4 golf too.
