    hi folks,
i had to cancel my sky subsription as i dont really watch that much telly and i only really watch the rte channels.

so, i now need to get an aerial installed as i dont see an alternative.
i am based outside athenry, galway area.
i have contacted o'connors in galway who said to supply & install it would cost 200 quid.

Can anyone reccomend someone\somewhere where i can get this done for less? i am assuming i have no other options when it comes to wanting the irish channels and not wanting to pay a subscription to a company like sky.

    thanks.

    A few options:

With the sky box, card taken out, you should still be able to get the BBCs, ITVs, C4s and a few other decent channels.

Another option would be to get a a combo box that would give you the satellite channels above, plus the Irish channels. I don't know about your location, but you may be able to get the Irish channels with a simple set top aerial; I do in Dublin. Others may be able to advise as regards signal in your area.

In Arklow, installers are putting in a full freesat kit including dish, standard wiring, new freesat box AND a VHF +UHF aerial [2 aerials] for €249.

So €200 seems dear to me for an aerial on it's own.
