Is it time to get personal?

Now I wont be so stupid as to mention names but there are members here who still fervently (and proudly) support FF. I have been given warnings in the past for 'attacking' these members, the old ad hominem. But the argumentum ad hominem is not always fallacious, for in some instances questions of personal conduct, character, motives, etc., are legitimate and relevant to the issue. When you question someones support for FF you get accused of playing the man and not the ball, but in this case the two are inextricably linked. So should we play the ball and not the man when it comes to FF??

I propose that the man (i.e. he who continues to keep the ball in play) is the problem here. If 20 odd % did not stand by FF, scandal after scandal, then we would not be stuck in our rageful stupor that FF are still in power after what they have done. The party is just a collection of individuals and it exists based on mutual agreement and support so the individuals that comprise it are the ones that compromise this country. FF supporters are the cross we all bear, their continued support allows us all to suffer with this government. Apologists and sympathisers perpetuate this government upon us

I've closed the thread - let me explain why.

Getting personal is against the rules of the forum. If you want to propose a change to those rules, there's a thread called "A discussion on the rules" where you can make a case for it.

If someone expresses support for Fianna Fáil (or any other party) you are free to challenge that expression of support in a logical and civil manner. I personally think that's a better idea than attacking them personally for it, but if you disagree, make your case on the thread I've mentioned.
