    Hi guys,

Hoping someone can give me some advice. I have a sky box (ordinary one maybe 5 years old) and i am going to cancel sky. Can i use the box for receiving channels after i do this and is it straightforward? Im living in an apt with a shared dish system. I have pulled out the card from the box just to check but nothing works without the card. Do i need to wait until sky cancels my subscription before i can test it or do i need to reprogram my box?

    Thanks all

Go to sky news. Press red. When 4 active screens appear, Remove sky card, Press back up. When epg resets you will see free uk channels on epg at 101,102 etc.

To revert to irish sky, re insert card.

    Google Freesat
You will get all the Freesat channels plus maybe a few extra.

Disable Parental controls before removing card.

Favourites only work with a Card.

Using a sky box for fta in kitchen-favourites work fine without a card, just had to tune ch5 and ch4+1 into other channels, might invest in a uk ftv card.

yea,and ch5 ,set the rest of fta channels you watch as favourites, makes it easier to find them.I just use fta on the 2nd box in the house, the missus likes the soaps.Get used to watching endless repeats of Bridget Jones on itv2:D That channel gets worse everyday.

I stopped my subscription to sky and now have the british channels on the FTA on the box.

my problem is that when I want to watch say ITV 2 I have to scroll down from 101, hitting every 'insert sky card' channel on the way.

Ive tried ticking the box to make them favourites ( and then presumably in rotation) but the box doesnt hold the favourites and I am back to square one again.

Also Im living in an area where all the Irish TV channels reception is poor. It was the principal reason for getting sky in the first place but with recession comes cutbacks!

Any help on either of these two issues
    Thanks

i am not trying to be 'clever' but.....i presume you are pressing 'select' after ticking with the yellow button.... this can be done after each selection or indeed after 'ticking' the full list.
