Glass Nail Files...

I've used good old emery boards for years having been told using metal files is bad for the nails.

Now, the new thing seems to be these glass files. Has anyone used them, and are they any good??

Finally, if someone can recommend me a good place to get one and approximate price, then that would be great!

    TIA :)

My mother gave me a present of one from the States years back and i'd never use an emery board again! You can get them in Tesco on the beauty aisle but they're not the best. Boots do them, just look at the nail section, thye start at about €7 for a mini one, but buy a mid range one and it'll be worth it. And i think you can buy them from the Nails INc concessions in Debenhams, but i could be wrong. I've seen them on Ebay but i wouldn't be sure of the quality. Every once in a while was it under warm running water and leave to dry naturally and you'll never have to buy a new one again!!

Leighton Denny in Dundrum sell their own as well. You could probably get it online if you wanted to splash out.

I bought one in Dunnes and found it good the first few times I used it but not great after that. However I never knew about the warm water trick. I must see if I can find it and try it.

I have used one for years and love it. My husband picked it up for me. Go for a good one and you will never have to buy a file again

If you're (or anyone you know is) going on holidays at all, Sephora do them. I bought one in Portugal recently for about €8.

I got one in Sephora in Spain for around €16 a few years back. It was brilliant but unfortunately a friend of mine snapped it in half by accident, so do be careful with it.

Actually, I've just found one buried in my makeup bag that i've been searching for, its Tesco, and its by far the best one i've bought here. Again, can't remember the price, but i doubt it was more than €12!

I remember watching a youtube guru video recently and I think she recommended a glass file from Ruby and Mille which is available from boots :)

I picked up one marked Leighton Denny in Boots in Jervis St yesterday for €14.95. They also had a larger version for €19.95.

Seems good so far. I have long nails, and the small one suits me fine.

    Edit:
Just discovered it has a lifetime guarantee with it as well apparently. As long as it has not been "abused", and has been looked after properly by dipping in hot water (and nothing else), they'll replace it free of charge if the surface goes dull.

I got a couple of really nice glass nail files complete with Swarovski crystals (well a girl's gotta have her bling!:)) from eBay.

They're fab!! Got one for my handbag, and one for my bedside drawer. Paid £17 for the two including postage which I thought was a very good price.

Thanks for all the help and recommendations!:D
