Doesn't sound great. I thought the owners were minted since they were paying for a new Luas line to go out to the hotel.

Don't think this will affect the Grand Prix as Bank of Scotland want the hotel to continue trading.

There's no threat though to events already booked in.

The Citywest hotel, conference centre and golf complex has gone into receivership with Martin Ferris & Associates appointed by the Bank of Scotland (Ireland) to look after its affairs while a new owner is sought.

It was reported over the weekend that owner Jim Mansfield had been in negotiations with American investors to buy the business for around €1 billion.

On a more positive note, the Mansfield Group’s Oonagh Murray Nealon confirmed this afternoon to Hot Press that: “All the events we’ve got booked in like the Top Gear festival and Dionne Warwick are still good to go.”

Open for the past 18 years, City West employs around 400 people in Saggart, County Dublin.

Hope the grand prix doesnt go ahead because citiwest is a non run shambles and has been for a long time now. Nobody runs it the ceo doesnt give a damn as i believe they were trying to get rid f him for a long time so nobody there gives sh!t. Look at the bar situation the last 2 years, under manned and everything but plastic bottles of bulmers sold out before the first match ended and bar unreplenished.

Have to agree with a lot of the posters above it would be no loss for it to be held somewhere else as they seem to take it for granted at this stage.

dead right mate thats the problem, i also think the 02 for a premier league night ok,
but i cant see the grand prix ever being held there it would cost some amount to hire the 02 for maybe 10 night's

Ive heard that Hearne plans to make a rolling show out of the World Championships too and bring it to different locations.

Premier League night in Dublin is almost certainly on his plans too. So i just wonder where the Grand Prix would go. The Olympia could be great. Limit the attendances. Atmosphere would be epic. But there's too much integrity there for that to happen

The O2 is a barn that would do them, but i think unless Harry Crosby does a deal for them it won't happen (i wouldnt imagine the Citywest place is cheap either though)

Sometimes though people like Harry Crosby need to do a deal and see the 10 days of TV Coverage, Live from The O2 Dublin. The intake of money into the Capitol as people around the country come to the City Centre for pints before hand. Commute on the LUAS up to the event etc. It's actually logistically the best place
