Gunmetal wheels

Does anyone know anywhere in the Dublin area (preferable northside) that can make your take your alloys and make them Gunmetal coloured?

I am not usually into my aesthetic mods but the wheel of my car is quite rare and the only one I can find at a reasonable price is Gunmetal (2nd hand, never used, bought as a spare)

One of my wheels is buckled beyond repair hence the need for a replacement.

Tallaght Powdercoating are meant to be the best by miles but they are pricy. I was quoted about 450 for the 4 wheels but they do look brand new after

    Ouch.......

200 sand blasted and powder coated up north for 5 wheels (yes 5!), but I just dont have the time to get up on a weekday!

Anybody know anywhere a little more reasonable?

There's a place in Bray too.

TBH, Tallaght is the only place I've heard nothing bad about. A friend of mine had his done somewhere else and had to bring them back 3 or 4 times. They were Enkei (sp?) wheels on a CTR

    Cheers Graham!

Hopefully one of the lads on the digital design forum will give me a preview!

You should be able to get them sprayed gunmetal for €200 or less from any panel beater, I've seen bmw wheels sprayed in a gunmetal that looked nice, ill root out a picture and colour code and see what you think.

If your up for the job doing diy you could probably manage it for €80 all in, it might not be as good as having a "pro" do it but again I've seen a few diy finishes that I couldnt fault.

If its definitly powder coat that you want barelle powder coating in JFK is one I have seen that was good 01 4568215.

There's the picture of the wheels in that bmw gunmetal colour, A22 is the code

ProParts in blanch did the above, its €250 for a set of 4 wheels refurbed including removal and rebalancing of tyres. Might be abit cheaper if there's no refurb work needed

I wouldn't be into that but if we got a group rate I would deffo get it done if I could get em for about 200

I didnt get mine done graham only saw a couple of pics from stuff they had done and all looked well. I've seen diy jobs holding up well from a year onwards so I'd imagine having them done by a "pro" you wouldn't have any probs.

If a few are interested I'll give Richie in proparts a shout and see if he'l do a group rate

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,620 ✭✭✭Graham_B18C

If we can get 15's done for about 200, count me in. I'll have to find a set of wheels for a few days!

Had 4 done about a year ago, one needed a little refurb for €200.

New tyres last week and they managed to wreck 2 so need them redone and was thinking grey. Have spare wheels so if there was a group thing I may be interested too:D

    I assume they're paying?

Rang pro parts there, 250 quid for four wheels as Al said, told him there was a few of us but never asked would he knock money off for extra people. The thing that killed it for me though was it'll take two weeks because their sprayer is flat out apparently. I would of assumed it'd take a few hours for a good sprayer, why they've to keep the wheels for two weeks I don't understand

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,391 ✭✭✭5500

From people I heard of getting it done before they had a 2 day turn around to get it done, I can only guess he might have ment 2 weeks before he could don them not 2 to do them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,689 ✭✭✭Vain

Any pics of wheels they done before? from the amount of horror storys I heard about people getting wheels done in different places, would be good to see what kinda quality of work they do.

Maybe so but his exact words were "Just so you know there's a two week turnaround on these" which I personally think is a joke!

I'm getting a spare set done so not bothered about the time, 250 is a bit steep though.

The place in bray would give a group discount nearly 100% sure about that.

I know someone that had to go back 3 times to them because they flakes after a few hours each time. I think I'm going to just get a few bits touched up on my paint and get the wheels done while it's in with the sprayer

Fair enough avoid them so, gonna give tallaght powder coat a ring Monday see how much it's gonna cost, seen some of the work they do on a bike.

Would you not be better to get the 4 done together, even if the other one is perfect? It'll mean the paint for all 4 will match... no?
