Doc Martens

Been wearing them for years back when they were made in England and I just got a new pair there. The breaking in is a bit weird and not like I remember the last pair being. It's only a bit on the outer side around the ankle bone that's hurting. I wonder has there been a design change to somehow make them easier to break in? The others I had broken in were torture. "You have to earn the right to wear Doc Martens" has someone said :)

I just go for these ones:

Not into all them fancy designs and flash colours though I suspect it's only the women wearing them? Ain't seen too many guys with the leopard print anyway :pac:

Those are my ones. I have a callus on my achilles tendon, soles, and athlete's foot. Yes, you earn them. Took about 3 months to wear them in. Best way is to wear them as long as you can, take a break, wear them again, and so on.

Mine are steel toed and heeled so they weigh a metric ****ton as well.

Wear hiking socks folded double, it helps a little.

Nor did I want to discuss the fashion of wearing such footwear....

I have a green pair that I got about 5 years ago. I was thinking of buying a pair around Christmas even though they seem to have had a surge in popularity when Penneys sold those awful neon ones. Anyway, the shoe shop I visited had a plain black pair of ten hole docs, so far so good - when I picked them off the shelf they didn't seem to be leather at all, not even good imitation pleather - just felt cheaply made, not hard wearing and plasticky and they were charging €110! I don't know what ones these were, but I wasn't impressed.

oh and OP this isn't strictly a 'woman's forum'. men care about fashion and appearance too.

This is not a woman's forum. All welcome.

I've had a bottle green 8-hole pair for about two years now, and I remember they were a bit tough for the first while. Now they're probably the most comfortable thing I own! Served me well this icy winter.

I have a pair of the 14 hole in black that were an absolute nightmare. I only wore them a handful of times. Got them about 7 years ago, but seemingly now they have zips on the inside so you don't have to lace them up all the way.

Also wore the Mary-Jane styles all the way through secondary school.

Got 5 pairs of Dr Martens around last christmas (they were so cheap on Amazon, it was rude not to;)) but I find all of them (bar a pink fur lined pair:o) dig into the back of my ankles:(. Hadn't worn docs in about 10 years before then but cannot remember any really sore breaking in period. Going to try and break them in around the house over the summer so I can wear them in the Autumn:cool:
